This week we will learn about some current artists. As always, do one activity or all of them, it’s up to you! Make sure to send me your favorite. I really enjoy seeing what you have been creating!
Wayne Thiebaud- Watch this short video to learn about Wayne Thiebaud, a 99 year old artist who is known for his paintings of food! He focuses on color, form and unity.
Now watch this video to draw a Thiebaud style cake. Yum! You will need paper, a sharpie or black marker and something to color with.
Victor Nunes is a retired art director from São Paulo, Brazil. He is known for turning every day objects and simple contour lines into works of art, like the ones below. Go on a scavenger hunt in your house to find 3-5 objects. Use those objects to come up with your own drawings! You will need paper and a pencil.
Perspective is the way that one looks at something. It is also an art technique that changes the distance or depth of an object on paper or in this case photography. Watch this short video on how to create forced perspective in photography.
Rich McCor is a London based artist and photographer also known as Paper boyo. Watch this video about how he creates paper cut outs and combines them with forced perspective to create some amazing photos! Now that you are inspired, go out and try some of these ideas yourself! All you you need is a phone, camera or ipad. Don't forget to send me your photos!!
David Zinn is a street artist from Michigan who loves to create chalk murals. He uses form and value with perspective to create “pareidolic anamorphosis,” which is a fancy way of saying he makes a two dimensional drawing (flat) appear 3D! Watch this video below about his work and then go outside to wee what kind of creations you can make with your sidewalk chalk!
